COMPETITION

 

Take the Mic competition is an event that aims to provide experience and exposure to all vocal skills and styles. This unique competitive event provides performance opportunies to rising talent with prizes totalling over $10,000 of value that are designed to develop an artists portfolio and promote a professional image and representation.

 

The competition is run nationally with events currently hosted in Melbourne and Sydney. Each state runs independently with different prizes, structure and limitations. Junior Competition runs as seperate event to the open division.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

STRUCTURE

-Limted to 60 performers total, 20 per round.

-Round (5 from each round will move to the GF)

-Grand Final (1st Place & 2nd Place Prizes)

 

AGE RANGE

-Open Division: Ages 15+

-Junior Competition: Ages 7-14

 

SONG CHOICE AND BACKING

-Songs can be any style but prefer below 4minutes.

-Each artist will perform ONE song

-Backing tracks in mp3  format with no backing vocals.

-You may be accompanied or do so yourself on guitar. No Piano.

 

JUDGING CRITERIA

-Performance (Connection to the lyric an audience engagement)

-Vocal Technique (Use of range, tone and dynamics)

-Song Choice  (Compatibility, arrangement and creativity)
